ChatGPT vs Gemini vs Perplexity for hospitality
Updated By Akkrev
Compare how ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity show sources, and learn how to check recommendations for your hotel, restaurant or café.
| ChatGPT Search | Gemini Apps | Perplexity Pro Search | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What the provider documents | Web search can use the query and approximate location | Responses sometimes include related links or sources | Pro Search links directly to its sources |
| What to inspect | The venue shortlist, source links and where they send a guest | The venue facts and any links Gemini displays | The cited pages and whether they support the answer |
Check the same guest question in each tool
Use the same location and needs in each prompt. Record the date, whether web search was used, which venues appeared and where any links lead. For a hotel, check whether the link reaches your official site or an OTA. For a restaurant or café, check whether the hours and menu are accurate and whether a guest can find the right reservation or directions link.
An individual response shows what happened in that check. Repeat the test before drawing conclusions about an assistant or treating a citation as a ranking factor.
Akkrev’s weekly plans sample API models from the ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Grok families. Included Grok samples use model memory. Check Perplexity separately if it matters for your venue. The API samples can differ from the consumer apps.
