Does your hotel or restaurant need an llms.txt file?
Updated By Akkrev
llms.txt is a plain-text guide to your site for AI tools. What it is, what it can and can't do, and whether a hospitality business needs one.
llms.txt is a simple text file at the root of a website that tells AI tools what the site is and where the important pages are. It is an optional format described in the llms.txt proposal.
What it can do
Give AI tools a quick, clean summary: who you are, where you are, your key pages (rooms, menu, booking, policies).
What it can’t do
Google Search says it ignores llms.txt, including for AI Overviews and AI Mode. An assistant that supports the format can read it, but publishing one does not guarantee that any particular assistant will use or cite it.
Should you have one?
Start with public pages that answer guests’ questions and clear links to your menu, rooms or reservations. Add an llms.txt file if you have a use for a plain-text directory and can keep it current. Akkrev’s directory is an example.
