# ChatGPT has wrong information about my hotel. How do I fix it?

## Key points

- AI repeats what it reads. **Every wrong answer has a source**, usually an OTA listing, an old review or your own website.
- For hotels, ChatGPT leans heavily on **TripAdvisor and Booking.com**. A stale OTA listing often outranks your own site.
- The most common errors are **parking, pets, prices with or without fees, room types and restaurant hours**.
- There is **no way to edit ChatGPT's answer directly**. Correct the source, flag the answer and recheck.
- Errors **creep back** when listings are edited. Check weekly, not once.

**From wrong answer to fixed**

1. **Ask the exact question:** 'Does [hotel] have free parking?' in a temporary chat with search on.
2. **Open the sources:** Find which page says the wrong thing.
3. **Correct the source:** OTA extranet, TripAdvisor, Google profile or your own site.
4. **Flag and recheck:** Thumbs-down the wrong answer, then ask again next week.

When ChatGPT has wrong information about your hotel, it came from somewhere. For hotels the source is usually a Booking.com, Expedia or TripAdvisor listing, an old review, an outdated travel article or a page on your own website that disagrees with another. There is no form to edit ChatGPT's answer directly. You find the source, correct it, flag the wrong answer and check again.

## The errors hotels see most

- **Parking.** "Free" when you charge, "none" when you have it, or no mention of height limits or EV charging.
- **Pets.** Allowed or not, which rooms, and the fee.
- **Price.** Rates without VAT, resort fees or city tax, or a price from a sale that ended.
- **Rooms.** Room types you no longer sell, wrong bed sizes, missing accessible rooms.
- **Facilities.** A closed restaurant or spa still listed as open, or wrong opening hours.
- **Check-in.** Old times, or no mention of self check-in or late arrival.

## Why OTA listings matter so much

In a 2026 study of 998 US hotels, the sources ChatGPT cited most were **TripAdvisor (27.1%)** and **Booking.com (23.1%)**. Hotel websites made up only about 7%. Gemini leaned on Booking.com, Expedia and HotelPlanner. Google's AI Mode cited Google's own pages almost every time.

So if your Booking.com extranet still says "free parking", that is often what ChatGPT repeats, whatever your website says.

## How to find the source

1. Open a **temporary chat** with search switched on, so your own history doesn't affect it.
2. Ask the exact question a guest would: "Does [hotel] in [town] allow dogs, and what does it cost?"
3. Open every cited link and find the wrong detail.
4. If no source is cited, the answer may come from model memory. Correct your main sources anyway.

## Where to correct it

| Source | Where to fix it |
|---|---|
| Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com | Property extranet: facilities, policies, fees |
| TripAdvisor | Management Center: amenities, description, owner responses |
| Google | Business Profile amenities, Google Hotels details, owner Q&A |
| Bing and Apple | Bing Places and Apple Business Connect |
| Your website | One clear page per topic: parking, pets, accessibility, policies |
| Old articles and reviews | Reply to reviews with the correct fact. Ask publishers to update if it matters. |

Make sure every source says the same thing in the same words. Disagreement makes AI less sure of any of them.

## Flag the answer, then recheck

- In ChatGPT and Gemini, use the **thumbs-down** on the wrong answer and explain the error.
- On Google, use the **feedback** link on the AI Overview.
- Check your website does not block OpenAI's search crawler, so ChatGPT can read your corrected page.

Live-search answers can update within days. Answers from model memory can take months. Ask the same question every week until it's right.

## Keep errors from coming back

Errors return when someone edits a listing, an OTA syncs old content or a new review repeats an old fact. Keep a short list of your 10 most-asked facts and check them across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google every week.

Akkrev does that check for you. Each weekly report keeps the actual answers and sources from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Grok models, so you can see which page is causing an error. ## Questions

### How do I correct wrong information about my hotel in ChatGPT?

Find the source first. Ask the same question with search on and open the cited links. Correct that page, whether it is Booking.com, Expedia, TripAdvisor, Google or your own site. Then flag the wrong answer with the thumbs-down button and check again over the next weeks.

### Can I contact OpenAI to fix my hotel details?

There is no business form to edit answers. Feedback on the answer helps, but the lasting fix is correcting the sources ChatGPT reads.

### Why does ChatGPT quote Booking.com instead of my website?

For hotel questions ChatGPT cites TripAdvisor and Booking.com far more than hotel websites. In one 2026 study they made up about half of the sources ChatGPT cited, while hotel websites were around 7%.

### Why does AI show my prices without fees or tax?

It often copies a headline rate from a listing that shows prices before taxes or fees. Make sure your own site and listings state the full price guests pay.
